Overview
The Purgatory tells the story of a man who suddenly finds himself inside a space prison, with a voice inside his head telling him to grab a rifle and run.
When he reaches the lifeboats, however, he will discover the bitter truth.

"The Purgatory" is a 2d top down shooter in which the gameplay is based on death. Every time the player dies, will unlock bonuses and maluses, so as to create different situations with the continuation of the game.
The goal of this project was to create a game based on the game over, so in the short time available I created this mechanics:

First death:

The player gains a shield

Enemies become more resistant
Second death:
-
The player does more damage
-
Enemies become faster


Third death:
-
The player gets faster
-
The ground starts to break making holes
Fourth death:
-
Game over

This project has some flaws (for example it is too easy, in fact it is difficult to die and see the mechanics on which the game is based) and the end is a bit bugged, but it was fun to create this type of game, and probably will not be the last time.
